Mobile users not saving to their network folder

Most of my laptop users are saving locally to their laptops even though I've set up VPN for them. How can I make sure that as soon as they log into their laptop, they open and save all their files into their network folders? The users work in and outside of the corporate domain.

Need help with this. They are driving me crazy to track them and remind them to move their files to their network folders.

This is very much the case, I would look into a sync program.
