What were you going to grab for a gpu? Or are you just using integrated?
Can you actually still find these new?So as to the OP, I have decided to go with the i7-4790k. If anyone wants to comment on motherboards, I am looking at these options:
MSI Z97 Gaming 5
MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming
MSI Z97-GD65 Gaming
MSI Z97 GuardPro
MSI Z87-G55
MSI Z97A Gaming 6
Asus Maximus VII Hero
Asus Z97-Pro
If you have a 'pick of the litter', or think I should look at another model, do tell.
Amazon....Can you actually still find these new?

Although I'm sure you could do better for something used on Ebay
My bad... Your right on that. I see nothing new in the way of any kind of Z97 boards. Ebay would be a better option on a used Z97 boardOh I meant the boards he listed.
I regret to say I have not gotten that far yet. What I hoped to be a simple thing has turned into a major research project. As it has been years since I looked into hardware, I pretty much had to start from scratch. I do hope to get to graphics cards (and whatever else) soon. This build does seem to be making some headway since picking a CPU.What were you going to grab for a gpu? Or are you just using integrated?
Legacy parts take time to track down, and cost more than they used to ten years ago, but yes I can find them. Can you actually still find these new?
