Laptop fan running like crazy (with 2GB mem usage) when having one powerpoint open!

So I have a compaq with intel pentium 1.6Ghz, 2GB RAM , 32 bit running windows 7. I didnt really have this problem until recently. I started noticing that sometimes when I have one internet explorer window open and a powerpoint in class, the fan runs super loud and when I check the task manager it shows 75-90% memory usage which doesnt make any sense. I tried running hijack this but it keeps saying that "your system denied write access to the hosts file." and even though I tried to edit it through notepad, I did not find any entry of hijack this on there. So i had to take screen shots of my hijackthis log to show you guys. Lemme know what you think

Please have HiJack This run and create a Log file. It will then open notepad and copy/paste the results in your post. I cant analyze it properly using the images.
